India Blocks Language About Ending Coal From COP26 Pledge At Last Minute Over European Objections

At the last minute of debate on the pledge that countries signed off on at COP26, India proposed a change in language from “phasing out” to “phasing down” coal, as the country gets much of its power from the polluting resource.
